Oak Bay High’s traditional nurturing fundraiser returns to help students hit high notes and clear hurdles.
The compost sale is back. The spring fundraiser supports band and athletics programs, where members provide services to the community, while helping pay for coming tours. The band program plans to travel to southern California this spring, the track team to Hawaii and rugby players are set to go to Italy next year.

The compost is popular and widely touted by community gardeners as a high quality. It’s a mix of aged cow manure and peat moss sourced from a variety of Island businesses, organizers say. Orders are bagged individually in industrial quality plastic bags of 35 and 40 pounds each and cost $9 a bag or five bags for $40. Delivery is included. The deadline to purchase – online only at oakbayband.com/s/shop – is Feb. 27 at midnight.
Students will deliver compost March 4 to 6.
