Margaret Hill gives back to the Oak Bay community on a daily basis as Willows’ trusted and loved crossing guard. Today, on her 70th birthday, the community had a chance to show her how treasured she is.
The day began with Fire Chief Dave Cockle and Chief Constable Andy Brinton greeting her during her morning shift.
When you care about our kids the way Margaret does, the Fire Chief & Police Chief greet you on your birthday! Happy Birthday Margaret! Thanks for your many years of service to #oakbay! @sd61schools #onlyinoakbay pic.twitter.com/l4qBtsEwNu

Just before the bell rang at the end of the day, classes came out to sing to her.
And as kids and parents streamed by on their way home, hugs were shared and a chorus of “Happy birthday, Margaret!” could be heard from down the street.
