Oak Bay celebrates Bike to Work Week Greater Victoria

Celebration station a highlight of the commute this week

Oak Bay celebrates Greater Victoria Bike to Work Week with a celebration station at Oak Bay municipal hall from 4 to 6 p.m. today.

Since its inception 24 years ago, Bike to Work Week has celebrated with over 100,000 cyclists and has introduced more than 15,000 new riders to commuter cycling. Hundreds of workplaces throughout Greater Victoria will register teams to take part in the 2018 campaign. The event will feature 25 Celebration Stations along popular bike routes throughout the region. Celebration Stations feature food and beverages, prize draws and giveaways, bike check-ups, information and more. Participants who register online will also be eligible to win for over $15,000 in prizes.

Bike to Work Week Greater Victoria wraps June 3 followed by a results overview. Early results show 5,063 riders are registered this year on 1,488 teams with a total 904 new riders.
