“We’re excited to play at the centre. It’s really enjoyable playing with the group. We’re always looking for new players. Right now we especially need tuba players,” said Irv Braithwaite, who plays the trumpet in the band.
“And clarinets, as well”, added Conductor Joe Hatherall.

Music lover Brian McMullen noted: “The performance of Nessun Dorma by singer Robert Hall was a wonderful addition to the repertoire. The other pieces were excellent, too. The music brought back fond memories for most of the attendees.”
Many guests remarked on how much they enjoyed the music.
“The musicians have not been playing together long but they are great. I feel inspired to see all these people going out and playing, putting themselves out there,” said Irene Beer.
Judy McMullen, too, was enthusiastic about the performance.
“The size of the band has really made a difference. Now the weight of it brings the full impact of the music,” she said.
The Concert Band practices Thursday at 4:30 pm at Monterey Recreation Centre. New players are welcome or you can just come and listen to the practices.
