This month’s Embrace the Twilight walk starts a little later thanks to the long daylight hours and the near-full moon not rising until about 8:40 p.m..

Walkers can meet for the one-hour stroll under the July Buck Moon on Thursday (July 26) at 7:30 p.m. at Chris Paul’s “Salish Sea” sculpture at Turkey Head – south side of the Oak Bay Marina parking lot off Beach Drive.

“Turkey Head is public land which is the focus of future changes which many of us hope includes losing some of the vast amount of asphalt and becoming more green and attractive, especially around Mr. Paul’s art,” said Ron Carter, co-organizer with Rick Marshall of the monthly ambles sponsored by the Community Association of Oak Bay.

The walks are held once a month from February to October and feature a different route every time, although the popular routes occasionally get highlighted more than once.

This month’s walk will stroll south from Spewhung to The Guardian at Anderson Hill Park, overlooking Chikawich.

45 people enjoyed last month’s Embrace the Twilight walk along the Willows Beach waterfront, ending at the Kiwanis Tea Room.

“The moon was a tad shy at first but did not disappoint later in the evening,” said Carter.

The walks are guided and free; everyone welcome.
