On top of the bi-weekly garbage, kitchen waste and recycling collection that is automatically provided to Oak Bay residents, the district also provides a place for residents to take excess garbage, recyclables and garden refuse.

The Garbage, Recyclables, and Garden Waste Depot at the Oak Bay Municipal Yard is only for residents and non-resident property owners of Oak Bay.

To be eligible for a decal, your vehicle insurance must be insured to an Oak Bay address. Take your vehicle insurance papers to the staff at the municipal yard office and they will issue a decal. The decals are good for 5 years.

If your vehicle isn’t registered to an Oak Bay address or you are borrowing a vehicle from outside Oak Bay, you will need to show staff on site a property tax bill and another piece of identification in order to use the facilities.

Commercial gardeners can only access the site if they are with a resident that can provide their property tax bill and identification.

The municipal yard’s Recycle and Transfer Station is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday’s from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are closed on holidays. It is located at 1771 Elgin Road.
