Fundraiser features Argentine flavour

Tango music, dance lessons, a silent auction and Argentinean fare are on the menu for an upcoming fundraiser.

The March 6 event supports the Victoria Tango Festival, scheduled for August, which showcases Argentinean culture, dance and food. The festival is held at Centennial Square’s Spirit Stage.

The Victoria Tango Festival fundraiser will be much the same, sampling empanadas and yerba maté tea, along with desserts.

It starts at 1:45 p.m. with a free tango lesson to the music of local bands Triotango and Dr. D.

The silent auction, along with food sales, begins at 3 p.m. for bidding on restaurant and clothing store gift certificates, hotel stays, gift baskets, concerts and services.

Tickets to the event are $20 in advance or $25 at the door (the Martin Batchelor Gallery, 712 Cormorant St.). Advance tickets are available by calling 778-432-0112.
