Avoid ferry and border waits and Symphony Splash crowds and take a walk in Oak Bay instead this Sunday.
August numbers are high for Embrace the Night – a stroll organized by the Community Association of Oak Bay – attributed by lead walker Ron Carter to the “light of a full moon rising and summer sun still a long ways from setting.”
“Then there’s the setting, the scene, the serenity … of sitting in the quaint Willows Beach Kiwanis Tea Room,” he says. That’s where walkers tend to finish the evening, wrapping a great conversation with a friend or new acquaintance while watching the moon rise, illuminating the ocean, magnificent Willows Beach, the off shore islands and Mount Baker in the background.
The next Embrace the Night walk is Sunday, Aug., 6 meeting at 7 p.m. at the Kiwanis Tea Room at Willows Beach Park, Dalhousie Road side off of Beach Drive.
