Coun. Michelle Kirby asked Oak Bay council to support a proposed provincial child care model featuring $10 a day, full time child care; $7 a day, part time childcare and free child care for families with an annual income of less than $40,000.
Council endorsed the Community Plan for a Public System of Integrated Early Care and Learning proposed by the Coalition of Child Care advocates of B.C. and Early Childhood Educators of B.C.
Dozens of municipalities including Vancouver, Burnaby and Victoria have also endorsed the proposal.
