Food, friends and information available about immigrant and refugee centre

An organization that helps immigrants and newcomers to Canada settle in Greater Victoria is throwing open its doors to spread the word about the support it provides.

The Victoria Immigrant and Refugee Centre Society hosts an open house and celebration of multiculturalism on Monday (March 19), from 3 to 6 p.m.

Meet volunteers and staff, including the society’s new executive director Sabine Lehr, learn about diverse cultures and enjoy tasty ethnic food at the society, which is located on the third floor at 637 Bay St.

“The event is an occasion to hear first hand about the challenges immigrants and refugees face as they try to integrate into our society,” Yasmin Zoraik, president of the society’s board of directors, said in a statement.
