Former Oak Bay mayor Christopher Causton was honoured with a garden patch for his 24 years of service in the municipality, Saturday.

Current Mayor Nils Jensen Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Ida Chong, former and present councillors, family and friends joined Causton for the unveiling of Causton’s Green.

The green space, located in front of the Oak Bay library on Hampshire Road, was selected because of it’s symbolism as a ‘friendly oasis,’ Jensen said at the unveiling. It also represents community connections as it’s a place where people are brought together, he added.

Causton was acknowledged for the wisdom, humour and patience he brought to council, including 15 years as mayor.
