Oak Bay artists interested in opening their studios to the public are encouraged to apply for the 19th semi-annual Oak Bay Artists’ Studio Tour taking place Nov. 3 and 4.

Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture, who jury and produce the event, is looking for established and emerging artists to use their homes and studios as backdrops to display original paintings, fibre, photography, woodcuts, glass, and pottery creations.

“We have heard from many of the previous participants who are looking forward to this juried event again, but we always want to find new studios in Oak Bay,” said Mary Kucera, of Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture.

For those artists whose homes are not well suited to a studio tour, there is an option to apply to use a shared space in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre (adjacent to Oak Bay High School) to display artwork during the tour.

If you are an artist in Oak Bay who would like to be involved, fill out an application at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee St, or online at www.recreation.oakbay.ca and submit by Sept. 21. There is a $45 registration fee which goes towards advertising and promotion.

This two-day special event is free to the public.

Brochures with artist images, descriptions, and a tour map will be available in mid-October online and at the Oak Bay Recreation Centres, Oak Bay Municipal Hall, and the Oak Bay Library as well as at local businesses and through participating artists prior to the show.

The 19th semi-annual Oak Bay Artists’ Studio Tour takes place Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
