Local hotel leadership active part in the Canadian tourism industry

The Oak Bay Beach Hotel leadership team continues to play an active part in the Canadian tourism industry, with Dillon Carfoot and Madone Pelan taking on roles in two prestigious organizations – Les Clefs d’Or and Meeting Planners International BC .

Pelan, director of sales and marketing for the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, was appointed as president-elect of the MPI BC Chapter. for a three-year term within the Office of the President, beginning on July 1. The role transitions into president in 2018 and immediate past president in 2019.

Pelan joined the MPI BC Chapter Board in May 2015 as VP of membership and was re-elected for a second term in 2016. MPI is the largest meeting and event industry association worldwide. Founded in 1972, the organization provides innovative and relevant education, networking opportunities and business exchanges, and acts as a prominent voice for the promotion and growth of the industry. MPI has a global community of 60,000 meeting and event professionals across 90 chapters and clubs in 19 countries.

Carfoot, chef concierge for the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, continues to share his passion for customer service by assuming the role of national secretary for Les Clefs d’Or for a two-year term. The national board oversees seven regions across Canada and is comprised of five executive positions.

Les Clefs d’Or is a society of hotel concierge whose aim as an organization is to facilitate the exchange of ideas between their members and to provide mutual assistance to better serve valued guests. Carfoot has been involved with Les Clefs d’Or since 2004, when he became an apprentice member. In 2006, Carfoot became a full member of the organization, and joined the regional board in 2012 as treasurer, followed by vice-director. He has served the role of regional director for British Columbia from 2014 to 2016.
