Keeping old favourites, Casey’s Market brings in new delights

Casey’s is under new ownership

The big excitement is that the Oak Bay News office has returned to Oak Bay.

The Oak Bay News team is so thrilled with our new home in the upstairs of Athlone Court, we are all settled in and looking forward to being more involved in the community and welcoming visitors.

We are located between Lysander Properties and R.E. Reynolds Investments just a few doors down from InspireHealth Studio. From our front door we can see Athlone Travel, the Penny Liquor Store, and Fairway Market, which is proving to be a great place to grab lunch or a quick snack. …

On Saturday, when I was out for a drive with a good friend, we decided we needed ice cream, and chose to reminisce with an old favorite, Casey’s Market, on Central.

Casey’s is under new ownership and while the classics such as penny candy, ice cream and movie rentals remain, the store has expanded its grocery department and now sells fresh local produce and Portofino Bakery products. Our Oak Bay tour continued through the Victoria Golf Course, past the Oak Bay Beach Hotel and home. …

Oak Bay is beginning to prepare for back to school. Oak Bay Pharmasave has plenty of great products including adorable children’s backpacks, great water bottles for all ages (I purchased a S’well a few weeks back and couldn’t be happier, it keeps hot things hot for 12 hours and cold things cold for 24), pencil cases, and some fun sandwich containers. …

Stop into Ivy’s Bookshop to get a brand new agenda to keep you or your student organized. …

If you’re looking for some great new back to school clothing, pop into Adorn Boutique for your older student or if they are younger, check out Fawn or Finn and Izzy who also have a wonderful selection of youth shoes. …

Another great item to check off your back to school list is eye tests and teeth cleaning.

Give Oak Bay Optometry, or Island Eyecare Optometrists a call to make sure your child’s vision is perfect for their learning environment. …

For all your teeth cleaning needs call Bowker Creek Dental or Dr. Cheryl Handley. With the continuing teacher’s strike a back-up plan for working parents can be found at the Oak Bay Rec Centre. Keep an eye open for upcoming additional programs through the fall. …

And finally, once you have sent your students back to school, take a well deserved break and try lunch at the Oak Bay Marina Restaurant followed by and afternoon at either Willow King Spa, or Boathouse Spa & Baths at Oak Bay Beach Hotel.
