Nearly 800 swimmers will make a splash this weekend at Saanich Commonwealth Pool for the annual Pacific Coast Swimming Christmas Cracker swim meet.

It is one of the largest youth swim meets in Canada, drawing competitors from across B.C. and Alberta. For many, it’s a last chance to log a time for the year 2017 before the long Christmas training break so expect to see records fall.

The Christmas themed-event is often cited as the most fun meet of the year, with draws such as homemade Christmas crackers for heat winners, teams competing in a Carol-off, big draw prizes and even an appearance from Santa.
