Letter: Deer reverse the stages of grief

Ugly deer fences the result of denial over the issue of a growing deer population

Today, I observed one of Oak Bay’s most beautiful and visible flower plots enclosed behind an ugly deer fence.

I was surprised that it had not happened sooner.

Deer fences are the barricades residents must use to shelter our plants against the exploding deer population.

Meanwhile, our council does nothing.

Councillors Eric Zhelka and Tara Ney continue to deny that we have a deer problem. Along with their ever-vocal deer lobby clientele, they seek to reverse the “five stages of grief” that weary gardeners feel.

In Oak Bay, acceptance comes first, yet we end up with denial.
