Water main break closes Margate Street between Newport Avenue and Beach Drive

Residents near Margate Street and Beach Drive are dealing with water after a water main broke Wednesday.

Oak Bay public works and the fire department responded and shut down water flow after a 12-inch water main ruptured May 31 around 10 a.m.

Some properties are impacted by water damage, the municipality said in a news release.

Wednesday afternoon, Oak Bay crews were on scene making repairs and assisting impacted properties. Margate Street between Newport Avenue and Beach Drive is closed until further notice and the intersection of Deal Street and Margate Street is currently closed.
