Three strikes thief

A man pushed his luck last week by blatantly shoplifting the same product from the same location three different times over the course of a few days, getting caught the third time.

The man was caught stealing merchandise from a business in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Ave. at 5 p.m. on Sept. 10. After reviewing surveillance footage, it was determined that the same man was responsible for two other thefts in the days proceeding the arrest. He was charged with three counts of Theft under $5,000. He was also placed under conditions to not attend the establishment again.

“The man had shoplifted prior but had not been apprehended. It was typical shoplifting except that it was a blatant walkaway with product three different times,” said Oak Bay Police Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.

Stolen scooter

An electric scooter was reported stolen from the Oak Bay Marina property on Sept. 11. It had been alarmed and triple locked to a post. It is believed that it would have taken at least three people to lift it off the post. The scooter was described as a purple KGEEZ Duke 500 with metallic orange trim and forks. There was a chip on the edge of the body near the left side foot well.

Walking stick lost

A woman went to the Oak Bay Police Department at 10 a.m. on Sept. 15 to report her turquoise walking sticks lost. She was at the Monterey Recreation Center on Sept. 14 at 4:15 p.m., when she placed them beside her on a bench while waiting for a ride. She then left and forgot them. If you find the walking sticks please call police at 250-592-2424.
