BC Hydro and Oak Bay parks are at work after a fallen tree brought down live wires on St. Patrick Street.

St. Patrick was closed to traffic from Oak Bay Avenue to Windsor with a branch on the wires shortly before 4 p.m. on Canada Day.

An old Garry oak at the end of St. Patrick Street let go and cause a chain reaction snapping wires down the street, said Fire Chief Dave Cockle. It took out two different sets of wires on two poles.
