Gardener unearths handguns in Oak Bay

While cleaning out foliage an Oak Bay gardener discovered two buried handguns, police reported Monday.

Oak Bay police attended and seized the guns, finding them to be old and in poor shape.

A serial number was found on one of the firearms and the investigator discovered it had been reported stolen from a residence in West Shore back in 1988.

The other firearm is believed to be associated to the same incident. Police would not release any further information, as the file is still under investigation.
