POLICE BRIEFS: Impaired, fraud and lawn mower theft
Three days for blowing a ‘warn’
Police conducting a road block in the 1500-block of Beach Dr. on July 22 issued a three-day immediate roadside suspension and had a vehicle towed after discovering a driver had consumed liquor. Two breath samples provided roadside which registered a ‘warn’.
Phone ‘fix’ call a fraud
On July 26, at 6:37 p.m., police received a report of a fraud in the 1200-block of Beach Drive
An unknown female phoned the resident, claiming to be from Microsoft and advising that their computer had been hacked. She convinced the resident to provide a credit card number to pay for a “fix”. A small amount of money was charged to the card before it was cancelled.
Lawn equipment swiped post-mow
On July 25 at 12:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft that occurred near Central Avenue and St. Patrick Street.
A gardener had finished mowing a lawn and left it unattended for a few minutes. When he returned, the red Toro lawnmower was gone. No suspects identified at this time.
