Oak Bay police impound vehicle for going over double the speed limit

Driver clocked at 92km/h in a 40 zone, also issued a $368 ticket

A driver is without wheels after an afternoon cruise down Beach Drive – doing more than double the posted speed limit.

On Wednesday (April 17) around 3 p.m. Oak Bay police received a complaint of vehicles speeding and excessive vehicle noise around Newport Avenue and Beach Drive so police went to the area to conduct enforcement.

A vehicle was later seen travelling north on Beach Drive at a speed of 92km/h in the 40km/h zone.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was issued a $368 ticket for excessive speed and his parents Honda CR-V was towed and impounded for seven days.
