The hunt for chocolate ramps up among many a young person as Easter approaches.
In Greater Victoria, several groups host activities – all free, some with fundraising components.
Perhaps the largest long-running eggstravaganza in the region is the annual Saanich hunt at Elk and Beaver Lake.
The Neal Estate Group 25th annual Easter Egg Hunt raises funds for BC Children’s Hospital on Saturday, March 30. The event includes face painting, crafts and refreshments. The fun starts at 10 a.m. with hunts at 11.
It features more than 35,0000 chocolates hidden in the park among other prizes and donations ($10 per child suggested) received go to support BC Children’s Hospital.

Saturday will also see the Fairfield United, Abby Church and Aryze host a free, inclusive and fun community event in Victoria.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Robert Porter Park (1350 Fairfield Rd.) includes songs and candy on March 30 at 11 a.m., rain or shine.
Organizers will collect donations (suggested $5 per child/$10 per family) to help support a local Syrian family. Parking is in the school lot off of Thurlow Avenue.
In Esquimalt the local Lions club hosts its annual family fun event with egg hunt, games, activities, face painting, crafts and concession. Running from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm. in Esquimalt Gorge Park on Tillicum Road.
That same day the Philippine Bayanihan Community Centre and Victoria Filipino Canadian Association hosts an Easter kids event. Registration is required. Learn more online at tinyurl.com/2hpej57y.
Colwood Church hosts its annual Easter breakfast featuring french toast and an egg hunt. The free event runs Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to noon at 2250 Sooke Rd.
The happy hunting continues Sunday with events on the Peninsula and West Shore.
Peninsula Celebrations Society and Helmsing Real Estate invite families to hop over to Dominion Brook Park (8801 East Saanich Rd.) in North Saanich. Kids can find the hidden eggs, visit the Easter Bunny and enjoy games and activities. The hunt starts at 1 p.m. sharp.
The Central Saanich Lions Club hosts its annual hunt at noon in Centennial Park, 7526 Wallace Dr. Children aged one to 11 are divided into three age groups for the hunts that start at noon.
