Coun. Hazel Braithwaite, as acting mayor, steps up to the plate Sunday afternoon as Tea Cup Challenge alternate.

The race, which she says could be pegged as women versus men, starts at 3 p.m. and features two teams rowing tea cups away from Willows Beach and back again.

Hot on the heels of the parade this morning (pictured here), Mayor Nils Jensen was called away for family business and Braithwaite stepped in to team up with Oak Bay Tea Party Chair Sandy Germain to race against past mayor Christopher Causton and past chair Bill Murphy-Dyson.
