Each year, 2,400 children are injured as pedestrians and 4,700 are injured on self-propelled wheeled activities, such as cycling and skateboarding.

Island Health participates in the Oak Bay Tea Party parade this year to celebrate Safe Kids Week – a national injury prevention initiative. The parade entry will encourage kids to be leaders in road safety by staying active and keeping safe while travelling. The parade walking group will wear “safety superhero” capes and accompanying children will wear superhero costumes and use active transportation, such as a bike or scooter.

The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at Windsor Park and weaves throughout Oak Bay ending at Willows Beach (See parade route).
