The Monterey Concert Band takes the stage with a special program for members and guests for a night of music. They embark on two sets once the audience is well fed on rosemary apple pork, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, with apple pie and cheddar cheese for dessert.

The band was founded in September 2013 by Erv Braithwaite to provide an opportunity for members to play music in a supportive and fun environment. Soon after, professional conductor Joe Hatherill took on the job of directing and the band began to grow, both musically and in membership. The musicians now number 38 and include both amateur and a few professional players. The band’s musical range has expanded from traditional concert band pieces to include Broadway tunes, movie themes, classical pieces, marches and jazz. The band tailors its performances for different audiences and occasions.

For their Night of Music at Monterey Recreation Centre on Nov. 23, the bar opens at 5, dinner at 5:30 p.m.

Cost: $24.50, $18 for members available at the centre, 1442 Monterey Ave.
