Janet Gairdner
Janet Gairdner enjoys a long history in media. She first joined Black Press and the Oak Bay News in 2009 and returned as publisher of Oak Bay News and Tweed magazine following her previous position as advertising director for Boulevard Magazine and Monday Magazine. Active in the community, Janet has volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Victoria, the Royal McPherson Society and the Boys and Girls Club, among others.

Jennifer Blyth
Oak Bay News and Tweed editor Jennifer Blyth enjoys a long history in local media. First joining Black Press as a reporter with the Saanich News in 1990, Jennifer has since worked in a variety of newsrooms on the Island. Most recently she was editor of many Black Press magazines and specialty publications, including WHERE Victoria, Island Visitor Magazine and Essential Magazine. She has also been a regular contributor to Boulevard and SOAR magazines. In the community, Blyth coached youth baseball for many years and has volunteered with Saanich Minor Hockey, the Greater Victoria Baseball Association and Victoria Eagles Baseball.

Don Denton is the photo supervisor for Black Press's Victoria News, Saanich News and Oak Bay News. He has worked as a photographer and photo editor for newspapers throughout Western Canada as well as for the British news agency Reuters based in Brussels, Belgium. He has taught photography at Mount Royal College in Calgary and currently teaches at the Western Academy of Photography in Victoria.

Penny Sakamoto
Penny Sakamoto is group publisher for Black Press-Greater Victoria, leading a team of about 65 staff and approximately 1,200 newspaper carriers. She graduated from journalism school in Winnipeg and has spent her career in the newspaper business in Canada and the U.S. She served as president of the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association and on the board of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association. In 2008, Sakamoto was awarded the Silver Quill Award for more than 25 years of distinguished service to the industry. Sakamoto works out of the Broughton Street office in downtown Victoria.

Sandy Henderson
Sandy Henderson joined the Oak Bay News team this summer, bringing with him extensive experience from previous roles at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and Victoria Symphony. With a life-long passion for music, the Oak Bay resident also works with up-and-coming musicians, recording performances and helping them reach the next stage of their education or careers.

Christine is an award-winning journalist who began her career in Port Hardy B.C. She spent eight years as reporter for the Peninsula News Review and began working as a reporter for the Oak Bay News in 2014.
